Players, friends and supporters of Futbol Club Britanico ran through the streets of Madrid for 24 consecutive hours on Friday and Saturday, raising more than 2000 euros in donations.
The money raised will go towards the club and the Save the Children and the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, with the total up to more than €2300 on Sunday afternoon.
The fundraising page will close at the end of March and can be found here: https://bit.ly/36Tbdyk
In total 28 runners contributed to the day-long run, which started in the pouring rain on Friday night at 6pm and ended at 6pm on Saturday.
A yellow and blue wristband was passed from runner to runner to signify the club's support of those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
John Meighan, who organised the event with meticulous detail, ran the first leg from the city centre to Retiro Park, while Jordan Sturmer completed the 24th and final lap in Sol, where he was greeted by many of those who had taken part.
In between, various iconic spots were covered including the Santiago Bernabeu, the Rio Manzanares, Puerta Alcala, the Royal Palace, Gran Via and Plaza Mayor.
The complete list of runners included John, Laura & Seana, Tom, Joe, Ollie, Harry, Patrick & Bryan, Ruby & Jo, Arren, Phil, Metro, Brian, Josh, Luca, Adri, Evan, Jamie, Sam, Diofer, Libby, Robbie, Will, Oli and Jordan.
Special mention also goes to Patrick & Bryan, Ruby & Jo, Arren, Phil, Metro, Brian and Josh - who all ran through the night, from midnight on Friday to 7am on Saturday morning.
Thank you to everyone who donated, supported and took part.
